Minimum settling time control design through direct search optimization

چکیده
The aim of this very brief third version is to present succinctly, but clearly with two animations, two optimization results from the second version of the paper available on http://arxiv.org/abs/1109.5966v2 which can still be consulted for more details. A future and much improved version of the paper will be deposited on arXiv at the beginning of 2012. The objective considered here is to optimize PID coefficients x = [K p , K i , K d ] to minimize the following objective function: f (x) = the rise time (= time needed for the response z(x, t) to reach 0.98) divided by 100 (the fixed maximum time value for which the response is evaluated) + the maximum deviation of z(x, t) (out of the following settling range: z max (t) = 1.02 for t > 0 and z min (t) = 0.98 for t > rise time).

Load Frequency Control in Power Systems Using Improved Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm
The purpose of load frequency control is to reduce transient oscillation frequencies than its nominal valueand achieve zero steady-state error for it.A common technique used in real applications is to use theproportional integral controller (PI). But this controller has a longer settling time and a lot of Extramutation in output response of system so it required that the parameters be adjusted ...
متن کاملPerformance Improvement of Direct Torque Controlled Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives Using Artificial Intelligence
The main theme of this paper is to present novel controller, which is a genetic based fuzzy Logic controller, for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drives with direct torque control. A radial basis function network has been used for online tuning of the genetic based fuzzy logic controller. Initially different operating conditions are obtained based on motor dynamics incorporating...

Feedback controls are usually designed to achieve multiple and often conflicting performance goals. These incommensurable objectives can be found in both time and frequency domains. For instance, one may want to design a control system such that the closed-loop system response to a step input has a minimum percentage overshoot (Mp), peak time (tp), rise time (tr), settling time (ts), tracking e...
متن کاملA Robust Optimization Approach for Magnetic Spacecraft Attitude Stabilization
Attitude stabilization of spacecraft using magnetorqers can be achieved by a proportional-derivative-like control algorithm. The gains of this algorithm are usually determined by using a trial-and-error approach within the large search space of the possible values of the gains. However, when finding the gains in this manner, only a small portion of the search space is actually explored. We prop...
متن کاملMinimum return difference as a compensator design tool
Minimum return difference (RDmin) is a single robustness measure that, when large, guarantees that both gain margin (GM) and phase margin (PM) are large. In this paper, a lag and lead compensator design procedure based on RD is proposed, derived, and compared with the commonly used Bode PM-based design methods that undergraduates are taught in the first course on controls and that continue to a...
